Kong Traxx
The Kong Traxx is a nifty rubber dog toy in the form of a tire. It is made from the same durable rubber that the original Kong toys are made from. It feels very tough to the touch, yet soft enough to be chewed.
The thing we love most about Traxx is that treats can be hidden inside the tire, doubling its function. And of course, Jemma loves this fact. She is not the biggest chewer, so we are mainly using this toy for mental stimulation -- making her work for her treats...and it's serving this purpose quite well. I should also mention that we received the small size to review and it is the perfect size for little Jemma to pick up and toss around.
All in all, we feel this toy would be excellent for dogs who love chewing. It can be fetched, bounced, and even rolled for more added fun!
Kong ZoomGroom
Although we are not strangers to the ZoomGroom, the new small size is certainly foreign to us. Last year, I purchased a medium-sized one to groom both Jemma and Tofu.
As many of you are aware, Tofu is roughly 15 lbs and Jemma is 5 lbs. The medium-sized one did its job in removing loose fur, but the size of it was awkward to use around such a small cat and dog. We were excited to hear that a new small size has now been introduced.
For photo purposes to demonstrate how effective this rubber brush is, Tofu is our model because he has a LOT more fur than Jemma.
Look at the amount of fur we were able to get out in a 5-minute brushing session! Compared to a slicker brush, the ZoomGroom collects a whole lot of fur and it can be used in the bath, too, so you don't have to use fingernails to scrub down your dog. We like it! Four paws up!
Kong E-Collar
The E-Collar is an alternative to the "cone of shame" that you get from the vet clinic after your pet has surgery or if there is a wound that needs to be prevented from aggravation. In this household, we cannot live without having one or two around because Jemma is notorious for having anal gland issues (which she tries to bite when it's healing) and Tofu is known to scratch his face like no tomorrow when he has an allergy flare-up.
The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the shipping box was how durable the Kong E-Collar felt in my hands. The edges are lined with a soft material to avoid skin abrasions when wearing for a long time. This is important to us because Tofu will sometimes wear it for 2-3 weeks on end if the wounds are bad enough. Unlike the typical e-collars that we normally come across, this one immediately screams "high quality" to me. Instead of clumsy flaps that can bend and break, the Kong E-Collar utilizes snaps. You just pick the hole that fits your pet's neck and push to close the 4 snaps.
Because these E-Collars need to be tightly closed to prevent pets from opening them, the snaps fit into the holes extremely snugly, especially during the first few uses. Opening and closing them intimidated Jemma a bit in the beginning, but after a few times, it didn't snap together as loud anymore, so she became fine with it.
During the first trial, she felt comfortable enough to put her head down and fall asleep in a matter of minutes. The next time an incident comes up where one of them (or both! Yes, it's happened before!) needs to be coned, we will be using the Kong E-Collar. I wouldn't feel as bad making them wear an e-collar if it's a comfortable one.
In conclusion, all 3 of these Kong products are excellent, exceeded our expectations, and we can highly recommend them for your dog (and cat).
