You all remember him, right?
If not, see: http://jemmathechihuahua.blogspot.com/2011/02/jellybean.html
Okay, his name is Nootka now. And he isn't really a he. She's female. I'm not sure why mom automatically assumes all cats are male.
Mom managed to "catch" her in April. Nootka always acted skittish and unapproachable, but one late night when mom and dad got home, they heard loud meowing. It sounded like a cat was in distress, so naturally, they both checked it out, especially since Nootka did NOT show up for dinner earlier that day. What they found was a skinny white cat at the side of the house howling her head off (in hindsight, probably in heat) and she was also skittish.
She was so skinny, mom didn't want to leave her alone outside by herself, so she took out her spare crate and tried to lure her in with a trail of treats. It was a no go.
Next thing you know, a black cat jumped over the neighbor's fence and came running to mom...and started rubbing her legs! Poor mom was so confused. She could not tell if the black cat was Nootka, but assumed not because this one was a little too affectionate and Nootka had always been scared of people.
The next day, Nootka showed up for dinner, but this time, she went running to mom first! "That was definitely her last night!" mom exclaimed. And she was so very happy because this little kitty had finally realized that she could trust her. That is a big step for us cats, especially one that acted feral-like to begin with.
So mom picked Nootka up (yes, this woman PICKED a stranger cat up without knowing how she would react) and put her in the garage.
She called the wonderful local cat rescue, VOKRA, and within half an hour, Nootka was picked up and promised a new home.
Now a month and a bit later, she is on VOKRA's website: http://www.orphankittenrescue.com/cats/nootka
These are the pictures on her page:

If anyone in the Lower Mainland has been thinking of adopting a cat, please consider Nootka. She is a lovely kitty who lived in a tree house, abandoned, and deserves a wonderful forever home to call her own.
Meow,
