I took Adam Lyon's Washington DC Bootcamp on September 16-18th, 2011. I wanted to wait for a while, after the bootcamp high effect was over and I had applied what I learned for a few months before posting a review.
Well the long awaited review is officially here. Let's first start with the background story.
Background
I was practicing game for a while, about 2 years, and Adam Lyon’s game system for the last 1 year before taking a bootcamp with him. I had learned about Adam from a talk he did for the Washington DC lair a year ago. I was by no means a newbie, I had done about 1-2,000+ cold approaches prior to taking his bootcamp. I would have classified myself as intermediate.
Although I wasn’t a beginner, I still had a lot of sticking points and had reached a plateau that was stopping me from taking my game to the next level. Specifically I had a flaking issue, I would accumulate a lot of numbers and a low percentage of the girls would meet up with me. The girls that did meet up with me, most of them would not want to meet up a second time.
After studying Adam’s home-study course for a year, I was disappointed with the results. Although it helped me achieve some spectacular things, overall I felt like I was not where I had hoped to be. I started to question his system. Being entrenched in the pickup community, I would receive word from other people, some who I respected because of their ability to pick up women, who told me Adam’s system for meeting women through cold approach was not good or optimal.
Despite being a long time follower of Adam, I began to blame him for the lack of success I was receiving. I felt cheated and wronged and decided to let him know when he posted an infield YouTube video about direct game that I felt would just lead to a flaky number.
"This is complete bullshit! So what, he got a flaky phone number. Any body whose been doing day game for a while can do that. The question is what happens after that"
"I'm honestly disappointed in you Adam. I'm starting to see you for the phony you are. Sure you may get laid like a rockstar, but not from day game"To my surprise, Adam responded to my criticisms of his teachings by posting a video for me a week later specifically dealing with the issue I had with the last video, a video that I couldn’t argue with.
Despite the prior flame war from the first video, I was surprised when Adam reached out to me through my blog by personally emailing me. We exchanged emails back and forth and I confided in him in the plateau I had reached while studying his home-study course. I told him I realized that I would not be able to get past this plateau from just reading an ebook, listening to an audiobook and cold approaching on my own. I told him I was in school and didn’t have much money, but was willing to find a way. Adam was able to make a special arrangement to have me join the Washington DC bootcamp that would be coming to my area a couple of months in the future. I was shocked at the genuine interest he showed, despite me having dogged him a few weeks earlier. It truly is a testament to his character; he really wants to see his students become great at meeting and picking up women.
Friday
Introduction
I showed up to the bootcamp ecstatic like a kid on his first day in school. I brought my pickup notebook and pen, ready to soak in the game from one of the best pickup artists in the world.
From the moment Adam walked in with his instructors, I could tell he was the real deal; he had that rock star aura. One thing I’ve noticed from being in the game for a while is that most of the guys, who are incredibly good with women, whether they are world class PUA gurus or super naturals, are they have insane rock star aura, also known as charisma. Their body language is so dialed down that it simply makes people gravitate to them. I think it comes from the massive experience they have from cold approaching and interacting with thousands of women.
Seminar
We went through the first day material and I took notes throughout. He properly covered the initial fundamentals, from body language, how to properly open, build commonalities and number close. I appreciated the demonstrations on body language and building commonalities that he did. Right off the bat, he specifically addressed why few girls were meeting up with me. It had something to do with congruence and I would learn how to adequately fix that throughout the bootcamp.
He also covered how to create a lifestyle with the type of women I want to meet, by having commonalities attractive to them.

No Sugar Coating...I'm Here to Learn to Pickup Hot Girls |
Another thing I appreciated with the bootcamp right off the bat, was the blunt honesty with why we were there. I was there to learn how to pickup hot girls. There were no disingenuous remarks as to why we were there. They did not try to pretend that we were there to work on things that were irrelevant to our main objective. No impractical inner game or becoming a better person fluff speeches and sugar coating, just hardcore, practical and immediately applicable lectures on how to pickup hot girls.
Saturday
Seminar
The material we covered on Friday was just the tip of the iceberg. On Saturday we delved deeper into the meat of the bootcamp. One of the instructors, Alex, gave a talk on what attraction is. I’ve heard spiels about what people think attraction is, but Alex was able to solidify my understanding of it by telling us the fundamentals that create attraction. He simplified it into two ways to be attractive, the first one being having a lifestyle where you don’t need game, like that of Brad Pitt, and the second one, where you use game that you learned from the bootcamp.

Can't See the Forest for the Trees |
What really helped me out was how Alex was able to explain the game of pickup from a bigger perspective, on a macro-level. This made me realize how incomplete my view on game was prior to the bootcamp, I was thinking on a micro-level. My head was so deep inside the forest, that I couldn’t see that it was a forest; all I was seeing was green. Throughout the bootcamp all the instructors helped me get my head out of the trees, and take notice that I was in a forest and understand how and why things worked in game on a macro-level.
In addition, he covered how to get hot girls, the 8s, 9s and 10s. He discussed the three different levels of game, and how to punch above your weight if you’re not an 8, 9 or 10. The best part was him applying an 80/20 perspective, and telling us the three fundamentals, T.L.C., that if you focused on, would increase your game and results the fastest.
The second talk Alex did on conversation skills and building comfort was incredible. I learned why I was having a low percentage of women want to meet up with me. I had completely written off comfort and thought all I needed to do was "just talk" for a while and women would naturally feel comfortable and want to meet up. Alex completely unraveled the errors in my thinking by breaking down specifically what "comfort" is and how to confirm that I have it. He gave practical demonstrations on how to build comfort and how to apply it to increase your results.

Being Fun and Playful |
The next talk was by Zac, it covered breaking rapport, also known as "flirting". This was also a beneficial talk, since I was not as good as I liked at making interactions "fun" and "playful" with girls. Zac covered how to flirt and start generating attraction and stay out of the friend zone with girls. He followed that up by giving talks on Qualification and Sexual Escalation, both phenomenal in their own right.
Alex closed the day up by talking about how to overcome objections and handling logistics. He recapped all the material we had learned so far and showed us how to specifically apply all of it in a pickup scenario before we proceeded.
We wrapped up the seminar portion of the bootcamp and I went home to marinate on what I had learned so far, I felt like Neo having entered The Matrix and gaining a better understanding of game.
Sunday
Day Game Infield
Because of family obligations I was not able to attend the night game infield portions of the bootcamp, only the day game.
This was the only infield portion I took, so I knew I had to go all out and receive as much feedback as possible. To motivate his students, Adam has a challenge where any students that get 5+ contact details in the 3 infield sessions, get to join him for lunch and pick his brain. I wanted to join him for lunch and learn more, so this provided an extra boost of motivation.
Initially I was paired up with Alex for my approaches, but Adam came over and started giving feedback, and it ended up being me and him one-on-one. We played the veto game, where he would point out random girls and give an opener, and I would go approach. I’m not gonna lie, it was kinda of awesome having the #1 Pickup Artist in the world critique and give me feedback on my approaches. We day gamed for about 90 minutes, I got 1 number, 2 emails and insta-dated two girls but that ended up falling apart when their other friend came and wanted to go elsewhere.
Adam said I showed a lot of understanding and skill, so I could come to the "Advanced Game Lunch". I can’t talk about what happened on this lunch, but all I will say is Adam simplified the entire pickup process by breaking it into a few fundamental parts that he doesn’t teach anywhere. Looking back, all I think about is how ingenious Adam is to have come up with the concepts he taught us at the lunch.
Seminar
We reconvened for an hour long feedback session and Adam elaborated on the myths of good game on the internet and being persistent with your approaches, rather than ejecting or quitting.
Some quotes that stand out from the feedback session where:
- "Good game is having things fuck up and you keep on going with the set"
- "Good game is ugly and slow"
- "When you get good, you don't eject, you disqualify and stay in set"

Rocking My New Signature Look...Bold Ties |
We had some time before the next talk, so I asked Adam for his take on fashion and how to be memorable. He gave practical advice that I’ve been applying with great results since, specifically adding BOLD colorful ties as a signature look to my style.
It has made opening with compliments much easier, especially since I'm now in the fashion industry. I would say 70% + of the time I open girls with compliments on their style, they return the compliment by saying the love my look as well. It makes everything so much easier! Prior to wearing bold colorful ties, less than 20% of the girls I talked to would return the compliment. They loved my style prior to rocking ties, but having BOLD ties as an accent piece, gave them an easy excuse to start hitting on me. Thanks Adam!
Zac then talked about Phone and Text Game. He emphasized the different ways to go about it and how to ensure you convert a higher percentage of those numbers into dates and day 2s, which was his next talk.
Shortly thereafter, he talked about Social Circle Game, which we all is one of the main things that draws people to Adam’s style of game.

My Magazine's Swimsuit/Lingerie Model Photo Shoot |
He talked about how to build a social circle with the type of women you want, and how to go about finding them and gaming women for friends to build the circle up. This was one of the best talks of the bootcamp and inspired me to do a lot of work on my lifestyle after the bootcamp.
Adam wrapped things up by discussing confidence and the importance of practicing, which comes from the tenet, "Confidence comes with competence". In terms of practicing and receiving feedback, he recommended recording your approaches and going over them if you don’t have access to an instructor all the time. This was one of the motivations that made me go out and get a gum spy camera to record my approaches. All I can say is Adam is right, I’ve learned a lot from watching my approaches on camera.
The bootcamp was officially over, and I bid my farewells and went back to life with a new found perspective of the game.
Life After the Bootcamp

My Magazine's 3rd Photo Shoot |
One of the things I had begun working on prior to the bootcamp was creating a playboy lifestyle, similar to that of Hugh Hefner of Playboy. Adam Lyon’s bootcamp provided more inspiration for me to do that and was able to push me in the right direction to achieve that.

Interviewing Model for My Magazine |
I came into the game to learn how to pickup hot girls, the model looking girls, like fashion and swimsuit models. So I set out to do just that. I continued working on the online fashion magazine my wings and I started, and this allowed us to attend all the local fashion events, which happen to be 95%+ women, beautiful women I might add. The week after the bootcamp happened to be fashion week in DC, so it provided the perfect environment to test out my newly acquired skills.
I followed Adam’s practice advice and have been going out 5-6 times a week, consistently.

Insta-Date from Accent Transition Adam...Aye!! |
In the first week after the bootcamp, I got over 20+ phone numbers (I had to stop counting after 20). Had a married woman makeout with me while her husband was in the bathroom. I also met up with 4 girls that same week, so my flaking issue was solved right out of the gate. I finished the week off by having a barbecue on my wings’ rooftop with two girls I met that week.
Hosting Happy Hour for Our Meetup Group |
I am now an organizer of two meetup groups along with my wings, and combined we have over 1,000 members in them. We host happy hours, parties and other fun stuff like salsa lessons, etc. Whenever I go there I am "The Man" and gaming is almost effortless. I’ve met and gone on dates with a few women from their and it provides a steady supply of new women for me.
In addition to doing the fashion magazine, meetup group, I also spun off a modeling agency to compliment the fashion magazine…yes you read that right! Except the only difference is we don't hire models and are not concerned with making money. I use it to recruit and invite models for interviews, photo shoots and parties. It's simply a means to an end. A justified one I would say.
I can definitely say that taking Adam’s bootcamp has helped me understand the sticking points I had, and I am now able to get a larger percentage of women to hang out with me and I am creating a lifestyle that surrounds me with incredibly beautiful women to a point that I don’t have to game or cold approach as much. I went an entire week without doing a cold approach because I was meeting so many different women from my magazine and meetup group events.
She says she's looking forward to it and loves how we'll have a lot of girls there, since we're always rolling with girls. I smile and laugh, fully understanding and grasping the value of pre-selection that Adam teaches.

I Could Get Used to This Lifestyle |
We end the year in a blast, having a photo shoot party with 4 of my close wings, and 10 girls, eight of whom were models, the other two I picked up from fashion events. One thing to note, I single-handily brought all the 10 girls, and all the models and non-model girls that would come to the 5 photo shoots we had this year. Although I love my wings, they consistently had trouble bringing other girls to the shoots and meeting up with them. On the other hand, I would consistently have other girls I met from cold approach coming to every one of our photo shoots and seeing them again, and I can unequivocally say it was thanks to the tactics and techniques I learned from Adam.
Am I the world's greatest pickup artist from taking this bootcamp? That's an emphatic no! However, I have learned the proper fundamentals of game and how to effectively build a lifestyle that surrounds me with the beautiful women I desire to a point that I can still be getting laid with hot models when I'm 80 years old...just like Hugh Hefner!
I have achieved this lifestyle without spending a dime. I'm a broke grad school student, living at home with his parents, no cars and shitty logistics, but still finding a way to create a Playboy Lifestyle. Whenever people ask me how I am achieving this, I will resoundingly tell them it's because of GAME! Specifically, Adam's Lyon's teachings.
Takeaways
Adam Lyons Knows His Shit - From being a loyal follower of his teachings, to becoming an apostate, I am now a believer again. Adam unequivocally cares about seeing his students succeed. I am a testament to that. The generosity he took in contacting me and letting me sit in on his bootcamp, despite the animosity I initially showed, is a testament to his amazing character. I have the utmost reverence for him. He is able to break down game into a technical structure and still make it easy to learn.
Don't Put Off Taking a Bootcamp - Being someone who thought that they could become great at pickup from just illegally pirating pickup products from torrent sites, I will tell you what I learned. You won't! As much as you may not like to hear this, there is shit that they don't teach in the products, that they ONLY teach on bootcamps. A lot of the meat that will take your game to the next level is only taught on bootcamps. From a business perspective it makes sense, if pickup instructors taught everything in their ebooks, audiobooks or videos, then they wouldn't be a need to teach bootcamps. To counter this, most products only touch the tip of the iceberg. Bootcamps are where it's at. Don't procrastinate, take one, having no money is not an excuse. If you are dedicated you will find a way like I did.
No One to Blame But Myself - I realize that before taking the bootcamp there was no one to blame for my hindrances but myself. I was trying to justify my problems by blaming Adam's system. I think this is what happens with people who bash pickup gurus. Granted there are some charlatan teachers out there, at the end of the day I was not fully practicing and pushing his system to the point of failure.
Lifestyle Game is Worth It - Putting in the time to build a lifestyle that gets you women with ease is worth every single ounce of sweat equity. As Adam says, very few people do it, but it reaps you the biggest rewards.
I would like to end this review by saying I owe Adam Lyons a lot. He has changed my life and will forever be a staple in my journey. The only regret I have is that I didn't take a picture of us together from the bootcamp, then I would have heard a photo for my journal haha.
Thanks for everything Adam. You fuckin' rock!
