World Cat Day 2011

Hi everybuddy, Tofu here.

I've been told that today is World Cat Day, so I wanted to make a post. Us cats are so important that we deserve our very own day. Not that we shouldn't be loved and celebrated every day, but you know what I mean.

Today, it's not only important to celebrate your love for cats, but it should also be a day for everyone to reflect on how to improve our lives and well-being in general. Without a doubt, people should be aware of issues such as spaying/neutering to prevent contributing to the overpopulation crisis as well as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs for feral cats.

So what am I going to be doing on this special day?

Watching Cat TV...

taking a nice stroll outside...

enjoying the beauty of nature...

stalking prey...

taking time to smell the flowers and plants...

taking naps outside...

and hunting.

Basically, enjoying life. Because there is nothing better than being a pampered kitty.

Also, a NEW stray/lost cat found mom. He's currently in the spare bathroom and mom is waiting for the vet clinics to open before making a few calls to see if his ear tattoo will help us locate his owners. He was found wearing a collar, but no tags.

So I guess he can join in on my fun on World Cat Day, too.

Meow,
Tofu

(Mom: I'm seriously a magnet for stray animals, especially cats. It's like they know I'm a sucker for them and they all come here. Or maybe Tofu is tipping them off? ;)

Which is fine because I have a serious love for cats (don't tell Jemma, LOL), but I really do wish that people would keep their cats safely indoors because we live in a very dangerous area with coyotes, raccoons, and fast cars.

Last year, driving home, I saw a kitty killed at the side of the road just 2 streets away from where we live. He was hit by a car. Months after that incident, a friendly neighborhood cat (she lived a few houses down) disappeared and I came across a LOT of white fur mixed in with either dark raccoon, coyote, or dog fur. There was obviously a huge struggle or fight and I guess you can imagine who lost. I have never seen the cat since and feel sad whenever I think about it. She was so friendly, she would come right over for pets without hesitation, even in the rain.

It's NOT a safe place for a cat at all. And this new one is super talkative, so I am worried that his voice will get him in trouble with predators. I'm really, really hoping that he just snuck outside and got lost.

Will upload more pics of him on Facebook so that I don't bombard Miss Jemma's blog with CAT pics, which she would throw a fit over :)
